Extreme arguments

I don’t know why, but on the web discussions and opinions tend to get rather extreme pretty fast.

Dave Winer is a good example of somebody who regularly resorts to extreme arguments and personal abuse to prove he is right. Mark Pilgrim even invented the Winer Number to distinguish between the amount of abuse people have taken from him.

Ironically, In the Postel’s law/draconian error handling discussing, I can’t help thinking that Mark seem to resort to Dave’s extreme style more and more.

Update: I owe Mark Pilgrim an apology here. This post is at least as extreme (if not more so) than the tone of the posts I was referring to. I do not think he is turning into a ‘Winer’, especially because I can’t remember him ever abusing someone personally. Mark, Sorry.

Note: If you were looking at this page in a more modern browser like Mozilla Firefox or Safari, it would look and work better and faster.
