Extremely stupid

After Microsoft and others succesfully lobbyed the US government to get a WIPO meeting about open collaborative models to develop public goods cancelled, Lois Boland, director of international relations for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, had this to say:

Open-source software runs counter to the mission of WIPO, which is to promote intellectual-property rights.

Lawrence Lessig explains why this is an extremely stupid statement.
